My father is a HUGE Heinlein fan. He did not like For Us, The Living. And he actually understood most of it.

I am a HUGE Heinlein fan. I hate For Us, The Living, because I didn't understand a lot of it.

I gave it to my best friend who has never read a Heinlein novel, EVER. And I know, it's the WORST book to give to someone to introduce them to Heinlein. HOWEVER, it was her gift for getting her masters in economics.

She LOVES the book (and understood it). And has no interest in any other Heinleins.

I <3 Heinlein.

Hopefully she'll read some of his other works, though. There's a lot better Heinlein books to offer!

I understood and eventually enjoyed the whole book! To me, it shows us RAH's vision of a Utopian society and gives me something to hope for someday. I can see that it might be difficult to understand or agree with in some aspects, but overall, an ideal to personally strive for. I didn't really agree with "forcing" their ideals on everyone (re-education), everyone should have their own free will, but not at the expense or pain of another... (at least that's what I got from it)
Love ALL that I've been able to find from RAH so far (and that's quite a lot!)

I understood the Utopian society, etc etc, I meant that I didn't understand the math and economics of it all. the meat and bones. The message, the story, that I understood.

I'm not a math person.
